Cooperation and Transfer
We take a broad view of knowledge transfer. This includes teaching, practical and research projects, as well as social entrepreneurship in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary contexts and in close collaboration with our areas of practice:
• Social affairs
• Education and culture
• Health
• Justice
• as well as the relevant policy areas
This is important to us: an ongoing dialogue between higher education institutions, the political sphere, civil society, self-representative bodies and practitioners, in order to shape spaces for transformation and to further develop practice in a transdisciplinary manner.
Would you like to collaborate with us? We offer a wide range of opportunities for collaboration and networking within the Social Innovation HUB, through practice-oriented teaching, and via various collaboration and exchange programmes.
Social Innovation HUB
The Social Innovation HUB is a hub for promoting the research-based idea, knowledge and technology transfer. Here, we raise the profile of existing initiatives and programmes. Here, there is space and time to jointly develop and pursue project ideas. Here, we support spin-offs and establish new, innovative structures for practical collaborations in the social and healthcare sectors. In this way, the Social Innovation HUB makes a significant contribution to a coherent and creative transfer strategy within our department.
Internships and practice-oriented teaching
We attach great importance to linking the learning environments of academia and the world of work. We draw on the lecturers’ wide-ranging professional contacts and partnerships to deliver practice-oriented teaching, and we integrate theory and practice by sharing responsibility for the training objectives and providing learning opportunities. Collaboration with the professional world helps to create real-life situations and a sense of immediacy, as well as fostering active engagement with the demands of society.
Transfer activities
Social engagement that translates ideas from the university into practice and brings about social innovation is a long-standing tradition at the department. The multi-award-winning KonTEXT reading project is one example of the department’s wide-ranging activities aimed at reducing educational disadvantage in society through specialised programmes for young people who have come into conflict with the law.
KonTEXT Reading Project
The project was developed in collaboration with students at the department. It comprises a range of education-focused programmes for young people who have committed offences and those who are in custody due to truancy. The practical delivery of the project’s programmes is carried out in collaboration with several Bavarian youth welfare offices, youth courts and prisons.

Science communication
Drawing on our expertise in the social and healthcare sectors, education and cultural work, and the justice system, we aim to engage in dialogue with practitioners and policymakers to provide well-founded analyses, develop proposed solutions and support the implementation of policy and practical measures. Possible forms of collaboration include targeted individual enquiries to experts at the university, the participatory development of policy demands and courses of action, and the facilitation of transdisciplinary forums for dialogue.
